Many people make mistakes when preparing chamomile tea, because they destroy the most healing ingredient
|If it weren’t for German traders from the beginning of the 19th century to “open our eyes” and show how much chamomile is valued in the world and a medicinal plant, we would still consider it a weed.
Until 1901, chamomile (matricaria chamomilla) was not known in our region at all, it was considered a weed plant, and then our eyes were opened by German traders who revealed to us how much this plant is valued in the world, and is just medicinal…
Experts they say that the largest, juiciest, purest and most beautiful chamomile grows in wheat fields, especially with winter wheat.
Carrier of healing properties
Chamomile has been studied a lot scientifically and chemically, but, despite the fact that dozens of compounds have been discovered in it, the carrier of its healing properties is essential oil. Chamomile essential oil contains azulene, which is the dark blue color of the oil.
The amount of essential oil in chamomile flowers ranges from 0.3 to 1.7 percent (and the pharmacopoeia prescribes a minimum of 0.3 percent oil). If chamomile contains more essential oil, the better it is and the more it is valued.
Makes the body more resilient
The use of chamomile as a medicine is very widespread and common in folk medicine, but also in official medicine.
Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory – it works against inflammation, a mild antispasmodic – it works against cramps and carminative – it works against bloating.
This plant has the property to make the organism more resistant to many diseases. It has been experimentally proven that one cup of chamomile tea drunk at work reduces the number of sick workers!
This is wrong
Chamomile is mostly used in the form of tea, the preparation of which is very simple, but, unfortunately, in most cases wrong. The most common mistake is to use much fewer flowers than you need to make tea.
Another mistake is that tea is brewed, often for a very long time, in order to extract the medicinal ingredients, which is also wrong. Because the main medicinal ingredient in chamomile is essential oil. And when you cook the oil – it evaporates!
This is the proper procedure
Proper preparation of chamomile tea consists of the following: put 2 full spoons of chamomile flowers in a cup. Pour a cup of boiling water. Stir, then cover. Leave the tea to stand for half an hour to an hour.
Then strain and drink. If the tea is intended for a patient who needs to sweat – tea is drunk warm, and if it is used to improve appetite – it is drunk chilled, half an hour before meals.
